Appointment InformationGarners Medical Centre is a family friendly practice, providing the highest standard of care to you and your family. We are a fully accredited medical centre, under the standards approved by Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited.
Our experienced team of doctors and registered nurse provide formal on-site training to registrars to help create the next generation of GPs. We service the local community including nursing homes in the area.
The practice has been upgraded to include extra consulting rooms, up to date equipment, the services of one registered practice nurse and services of allied health professionals, such as a Dietician in our premises.
We are continually upgrading the premises to better serve our patients needs and improve their health outcomes. The practice was established in 1992 by Dr. Peter Calligeros and has been serving the Marrickville community ever since.

Consultations are normally by appointment, but the first available doctor sees urgent cases.
If your appointment is for several problems, a long involved problem, a special medical report, pre-employment examination or a procedure, please tell the receptionist when you make an appointment so that extra time can be allowed.
Call us at (02) 9569 5032 or (02) 9560 0341 to schedule an appointment.
We prefer to see the patient briefly to avoid error and confusion with medications. We can also arrange phone consult appointments for prescriptions as long as you have attended the surgery within 1 year.
Your doctor will advise you when they expect your test results to be available. A follow up appointment can be made, or a phone consult can be arranged.
It is often difficult for the doctor to be interrupted during a consultation with a patient. If your call is urgent, it will be treated as such and you will be put straight through to the doctor. When doctors are with a patient, a message will be taken and your call will be returned as a phone consult.
If you are sick at night or on the weekends, you can go to the Marrickville Metro Medical Centre. Shop 92/34 Victoria Rd Marrickville PH 95654020 or 95654045. Alternatively you can ring our After Hours Service (Sydney Medical Service) on 8724 6300 for medical attention, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
Home visits can be arranged by appointment only.
In extreme emergencies, such as severe breathing difficulties or severe chest pain, phone 000 and ask for the ambulance. For other emergencies, phone the surgery for advice. The surgery is equipped to deal with minor casualties. If possible, the patient should be brought to the surgery. Apply pressure to any wound to control bleeding.
Dr Rajendran Bulk Bills all Medicare Card holders excepting Workers Compensation.
Dr Calligeros and Dr McCully will bill patients privately if they have no Pension/Health Care Card or are over 18. A fee will be charged according to the length of consultation and a reimbursement can be done on the spot from Medicare.
For specific fee information, please contact our reception staff.
Regular health checks and early presentation to a doctor when any symptoms or changes in your body occur are essential as part of preventive care.
Our practice is committed to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system let your doctor or receptionist know.
Your feedback is important to our practice. We always welcome any constructive comments or suggestions. Our staff are here to help you, so don't hesitate to ask for assistance. Due to the unpredictable nature of general practice consultations, the doctors will unfortunately run behind schedule at times. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you feel you have an issue you would like to discuss outside the practice you may contact our Practice Manager Maria Moutavelis Simoes or the Doctors. If not resolved contact the Health Care Complaints Commission on 9219 7444.
